In July 2019, a new publication emerged in the world of data visualization. Nightingale<\/em> set out to fill a void in the community, offering a central hub where enthusiasts could share their research, stories, and insights. Back then the data viz landscape was fragmented, with narratives scattered across various platforms. Nightingale<\/em> aimed to change that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Five years later, Nightingale<\/em> has blossomed into a vibrant community with over 1,200 articles published online and hundreds of contributors, many of whom are first-time authors. The journey began on Medium, where the first 700 pieces laid the foundation for what was to come. Writers, editors, and designers came together, united by a shared passion for data storytelling. Their collective efforts transformed Nightingale<\/em> into more than just a publication\u2014it became a home to a new generation of practitioners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This month, Nightingale<\/em> celebrates its fifth anniversary, but also proudly marks the milestone of 500 articles since moving to our own, fully-public website on WordPress. The publication’s evolution mirrors the growth of its community; each article a testament to the creativity and dedication of its contributors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To honor this milestone, we’ve collected some of our favorite Nightingale<\/em> articles from the past five years.
